1. McWilliam Rennie was voted as being one of the top family law firms in New Zealand in 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 by Doyles Guide. The Doyles Guide ranks lawyers who have been identified by their peers for their expertise and abilities. McWilliam Rennie has also been nominated multiple times in the New Zealand law awards in the specialist family law category.
  2. In July 2019 the Law Commission recognised McWilliam Rennie’s contribution to the Review of the Property (Relationships) Act 1976 – Te Arotake i te Property (Relationships) Act 1976.  Jacinda Rennie was also consulted by a number of media outlets regarding the review (see the NZ Herald and RNZ).
  3. Leona and Jacinda are co-authors of the text book “Relationship Property and Adult Maintenance” published by Thomson Reuters in 2013.
  4. Helen is a contributing author for the legal publication “Brookers Family Law on Family Property”, writing about relationship property agreements (separation agreements, contracting-out agreements, and setting aside those agreements).
  5. Jacinda has presented seminars to lawyers throughout New Zealand on behalf of the New Zealand Law Society, in relation to separation and contracting-out agreements, division of relationship property after death, and relationship property law developments. Jacinda has also presented Legalwise seminars on relationship property and relationship property law developments.
  6. Leona has presented seminars for Legalwise in relation to capacity and the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act.
  7. Helen has presented seminars for Legalwise on relationship property and relationship property law developments and on the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act.
  8. Leona, Jacinda, Sarah, Helen and Tara are all recognised by the Family Court as being sufficiently experienced and qualified to represent children in the Family Court.
  9. Helen has been appointed by the Family Court to represent people who lack capacity in applications for welfare guardians and property managers.
  10. Jacinda has been approved to be on the panel of Lawyers appointed by the Central Authority for Hague Convention matters.
  11. McWilliam Rennie supports the Wellington Community Law Centre by providing advice to the staff and clients of the Centre and by providing advice at the Family Law Advice Sessions on Wednesdays.
  12. We are members of the Family Law Section of the Law Society, which means that we are always up to date with current developments in the law.
  13. All of our Lawyers are members of the Wellington Family Courts Association, which brings together Lawyers, Judges, Psychologists and other professionals involved in the Family Court system.
  14. Helen is the Chair of the Wellington Family Law Committee (a sub Committee of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Law Society).
  15. Helen is on the Family Court Management Committee, which involves Judges, Court staff, and members of the legal profession.
