1. McWilliam Rennie was voted as being one of the top family law firms in New Zealand in 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 by Doyles Guide. The Doyles Guide ranks lawyers who have been identified by their peers for their expertise and abilities. McWilliam Rennie has also been nominated multiple times in the New Zealand law awards in the specialist family law category.
  2. Leona and Jacinda are co-authors of the text book “Relationship Property and Adult Maintenance” published by Thomson Reuters in 2013.
  3. Helen is a contributing author for the legal publication “Brookers Family Law on Family Property”, writing about relationship property agreements (separation agreements, contracting-out agreements, and setting aside those agreements).
  4. Jacinda has presented seminars to lawyers throughout New Zealand on behalf of the New Zealand Law Society, in relation to separation and contracting-out agreements, division of relationship property after death, and relationship property law developments. Jacinda and Helen have presented Legalwise seminars on relationship property and relationship property law developments.
  5. Leona and Helen have presented seminars for Legalwise in relation to capacity and the Protection of Personal and Property Rights Act, and Helen has presented on relationship property matters.
  6. Leona, Jacinda, Sarah, Helen and Emma are all recognised by the Family Court as being sufficiently experienced and qualified to represent children in the Family Court.
  7. Helen is also appointed by the Family Court to represent people who lack capacity in applications for welfare guardians and property managers.
  8. Jacinda has been approved to be on the panel of Lawyers appointed by the Central Authority for Hague Convention matters.
  9. All of our Lawyers support the Wellington Community Law Centre by providing advice to the staff and clients of the Centre and by providing advice at the Family Law Advice Sessions on Wednesdays.
  10. All of our Lawyers are members of the Family Law Section of the Law Society, which means that we are always up to date with current developments in the law.
  11. All of our Lawyers are members of the Wellington Family Courts Association, which brings together Lawyers, Judges, Psychologists and other professionals involved in the Family Court system.
  12. Helen and Emma are members of the Wellington Family Law Committee (a Sub Committee of the Wellington Branch of the New Zealand Law Society).
  13. Helen is on the Family Court Management Committee, which involves Judges, Court staff, and members of the legal profession.
